Could a bad 02 sensor make a truck run like it has jumped time

Asked by Nov 19, 2016 at 01:37 AM about the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 ST Quad Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 3.7
liter that I have just changed all the
timing chains and tensioners and
sprockets on and set the timing on and
it starts fine but then after a few
minutes it starts smoking and running
like it has jumped time. Any
suggestions?

A bad O2 sensor might make the truck run rich but it cannot effect the timing.
