2004 Ram front left turn signal - would the relay cause just this signal to fail?
I've replaced the front left turn signal bulb several times and the Lamp Out warning comes back every time in a few days. Wires look good. I've greased the connections on the bulb, etc. No luck Any ideas? No issues with any of the other signals or headlights.
No a relay would not cause this. May have to replace the bulb socket, or check the ground wire.
The limp out system senses the ohms on the lights, so if it keeps coming on then I would start ohming out the wiring on that light, I have seen sockets good bad so look for a burnt mark right where the wires enter the socket, if you do see a mark then replace the socket.
OK do I need to cut and solder a new socket in or is it plug and play?
No the sockets are not plug and play. If you did find a burnt socket it will be cut the wire, do this one at a time so you don't mess up, put a section of shrink wrap on the wire, strip and splice the wires together, solder and then pull the section of shrink tubing over th soldered joint and apply heat to shrink th tubing, sounds more complex than it is.
