sounds like the anti-theft system on the 08's. if the key is out of sync with the computer, the anti-theft system kills the truck after 3 seconds. have to have the keys reset with the computer at the dealership.

Im having a similar problem with my truck. I replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, O2 sensor, EGR, the crank shaft position sensor...and recently changed out the MAP sensor. Still not staying on.

I had the same issue with my 04 Ram 1500. I had misplaced my only key a while back and had two replacements made. The original key is apparently out of sync but both replacement keys seem to be working fine. Try getting the key re synced to your computer and you.mught have a simple fix. I was thinking throttle body or throttle sensor or even starter till I saw this post
