is the 45rfe transmission main housing the same between 2 and 4 wd vehicles? It appears that the output module can be swapped onto the 45rfe main body.
trying to make sure that I can put a 45rfe automatic transmission from a 2003 dodge with
a 4.7/2wd into my 2003 dodge with a 5.7/4wd
Your question is misleading. You going from a 2wd 4.7 to a 4x4 with a 5.7, correct? Not just a 2wd to a 4x4. The bell housing and mounts would have to be the same as well. Are you swapping from the same full sized Ram or is one of the trucks a Dakota or Durango?
My apologies, the donor transmission was removed from a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 4.7L, 2wd, my truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.7L, 4wd. It appears that the bell housing is same and my only concern now is the output shaft (cone) assy, I am going to remove the 2wd straight back output shaft assy and then try to mate my "transfer" case assy in its place.
Ahh ok I'm with you now. Yes that should work. Good luck.
Did this work the 4.7 transmission onto the 5.7 transmission
