Asked by Hellfighter13 Jan 30, 2017 at 12:14 AM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck starts to overheat and throws a check gauges light but never received a
check engine light I've had to add fluids twice truck has had water pump
issues before but the coolant seems to be coming out from the radiator cap
and not the overflow tube in the past month its overheated twice after a long
trip and once in traffic. The top radiator hose is warm but the bottom is cold. I
replaced the air filter about 7 or 8 months ago, oil changes about every 4,500
to 5,000.

Block Tester will let you know if you have a head gasket issue. No pressure/cold bottom hose, I'd check water pump. Also check your radiator cap for cracks.

It ended up being that the radiator cap and overflow cap we're shpt and that it needed to be burped.
