Yes it would, as long as they both have a 12 bolt cover. Why not just switch the rear ends?

The rear end is exactly what I need. was told that its called a Differential.would a 1999 rear end fit a 2003?

The whole rear end is something different then replacing the differential. So we know the gear ratio is the same and will bolt up to yours. So as long as the whole rear end is out of a Dodge Ram truck then yes it is going to fit also if thats what you want to know.
