2002 dodge ram 1500

Asked by Jan 19, 2014 at 01:15 AM about the 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 ST SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A 1500 4.7 Lt that when I shift out of park it
lurches. It doesn't matter if its a cold start
or has been running for a while.

I have a 2005 that does the same thing. I found out it is the transmission leaking off it's prime in the pump.......my solution is to start it, put it in nuetral for 10 ~ 15 seconds then shift it into reverse first. It only does it when I first start it for the day.....then it is usually fine for the rest of the day.
