What is the other part located on top of the tank next to the fuel pump called NAND why does my truck start after I hit this part with stick it's not the pump

Not sure, maybe when you hit it, a wiring connection is made and I suspect you might have some corrosion there. Here is a video that might help.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ft-jzwxrtg

could be fuel pump solinoid is sticking? or like Tom said corrosion causeing a bad connection

This part is sticking out of tank next to the pump and is black or grey has three hoses coming from it and is not the pump tje pump is next to thos part and has its own hole it is in on tank..
