Cam I swap out my 01 dodge ram 1500 motor and transmission out for a 01 dodge ram 2500 motor and transmission

what motor and trans are in the 2500? a 5.2 or 5.9 v8 swap shouldn't be a big deal. I wouldn't put a v6 in the 2500-the truck is too heavy. if the 2500 is currently a diesel there will be a lot more work to do.

should be a straightforward swap since that engine was offered in that truck.

Comming to find out between 2000 and 2003 Dodge had a change in parts. I went through the worst motor swap ever. My 1500 ram cracked both heads so I bought a 00 Durango and after swapping out the motor it wouldn't fire. I found out that the crank gears were different AND the timming gear in the head both had to be swapped with the original ones of the vehicles so if it's possible take out the sensor and try looking at the gears first to see if they are the same or not.
