best way to tell if my clutch fan is going bad .i have a light sqeach/sqeel noise from front of motor.@ 1year old belt, altenator, idle pulley.or any suggestions all gauges show good
With the engine off, garb the fan and see if it rotates. There will be some resistance, but not much if it's still good. If that checks out try wiggling it back and forth. There should be no play there. Most likely it's the idler pulley. Mine sounded like that when it was going south.
Be sure to look at your Harmonic Balancer while you're at it. I've had to replace a couple that came completely apart. When you start the engine cold, you should be able to hear the fan engage for a minute or so until it has a chance to distribute the oil inside of it and disengage. It will roar a little while it's pulling air through the radiator and then get quieter after running for a minute or so.
Does anybody know why the fan stays running on 2014 dodge ram 1500 5.7 and then the other day after turning off the heater and running a.c. the fan doesn't turn on anymore but truck doesn't over heat and all the gauges are good
