ac runs cool then warm

Asked by Guru345VR Jun 25, 2020 at 05:29 PM about the 2000 Dodge RAM 1500 ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why does the ac run cool then warm and humid? It has been charged. Had dye
put in to detect a leak; no leak. Fans are running. No puddle on ground. When
weather is more mild ac runs fine but when it heats up, the ac acts up. If I turn
the ignition off for a a couple minutes, it will run cool for a bit then warm. Any
ideas.

Maybe the coil is icing up. If you turn the air off once it stops working correctly and wait 10 to 15 minutes and then try it again and it works correctly then it is probably ice on the coil. Humid air can do this.

I also noticed the dryer hasn't sweated in a long time and a.c. not as ice cold as when New. I tapped on the dryer with a tool then it got condensation again and ice cold but eventually reverted back after a couple days. Weather is somewhat hot and humid. Any ideas.
