Heater core??

My pickup is making sounds under the dash,
the heater isn't working and the pickup is
over heating, and then the sounds start back
up and the heat level drops. Constantly
repeats.. And ideas.?

If it's making noises and no leaks or coolant smell in the car, I would say your coolant level is low and you have air in your coolant system. You have to remove/bleed the air out of the system and you should have heat again.

I suspect you have a bad thermostat.

I can smell it inside the cab(coolant)
