No. They are completely different, 94 and 95 are OBD 1 units and the 98 is OBD 2

Honestly, the transmission may be the same, OBD 1 and 2 refer to the engine control and monitoring of the emissions protocols of the years that the vehicles were produced. The engine mechanically is the same, but the emissions and components to the emission controls are different, so they would conform to the laws at the time they were produced. If the transmissions code is for example a 47RE it is the exact same, the engine is a 5.9L then they would work perfectly. a great example is a Subaru Forrester, that I own unwillingly. it is a 2002, and the transmission went out and was replaced with a transmission from a98, yes OBD2 and OBD2 but the transmission, as long as you have the control unit for it, should bolt right in and be able to be driven like the boss that the Ram 1500 is.

So, overall i would say, that number 1 if you have the same engine as the donor, minus the OBD2 bs, and the same transmission code, it would bolt right in and run perfectly. get the control module to be on the safe side, and remember that the check engine light is more or less to remind you that the hippies are winning
