Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 97 dodge ram was running hotter than it should
so i replaced water pump and thermostat but since
then the thermostat wont open up thought maybe i
got a bum thermostat so went and got another but
its still not opening the pump is pumping but im
getting no pressure out of the upper hose making
me think the thermostats not opening up it keeps
over heating ive had to run it with out a thermostat
so i can get around town without it overheating any
suggestions i flushed the system and bled it but
still over heats

hummmmm...get a good hp one...also your not puting it in upside down are you? also drill 2-3 holes as shown...and make sure the lower rad.hose is not sucking closed...

Yeah thermostats in right side up and lower hose hase coil in it to prevent it from sucking shut but ill try out drilling a couple holes and see how it goes thanks

Hey tried the trick you said with drillin holes and still not working i through a pressure reader on the coolant system to make sure its not the heads but im reading 16 psi which is normal but every time i go to throw the thermostat in it goes right to the red zone you have any other tricks for bleeding the thermostat cause every time i run it with out one i can bleed the whole system easily but once the stats in i get no where
