Knocking in my rear end

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got some work done on my 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4, I replaced a u joint (Diff "connection")  and serviced the other ( transfer case "connection"), both are greased up, but im still hearing a knocking in my rear end either when im driving or at a steady roll, happens in reverse too. What could this be ? My axel ? Not enough grease ? not serviced right ? the knocking doesn't always happen, most of the time after ive been driving for a bit, but sometimes itll do it no matter what. Does anyone have any clue as to what this may be? Before I just start buying and replacing parts.

Kinda need somebody outside the truck to know where the sound is coming from it could just be a loose pipe from the exhaust hitting the under carage

jack up the rear of the pickup , put 'er in gear n run her up to speed n listen for the noise. If it's the differential, you'll prolly hear it pretty qwik. While it's jacked up, grab hold of the exhaust n shake it good. Check the shocks, spare tire n gas tank shield. every once in awhile (however rare), the leaf spring bushings go bad n disintegrate leaving a space between the retainer bolt n the spring.
