Idles low in water or snow

Asked by Aug 22, 2016 at 03:15 AM about the 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2 Dr LT 4WD Standard Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my 97 5.2l will die when I go through a
water puddle or if there is snow on the road
but if I catch it soon enough I can put it in
neutral I can rev it to about 5000 rpm then
back to drive it runs fine. Would my
distributor cap be getting moisture in it?

Your issue might be water getting on your serpentine belt causing it to slip. Does the battery light go on and you lose power steering? If so, check the belt tensioner, it probably is weak causing the belt to slip.

No battery stays right away at first I thought it was water getting in the air cleaner but after I got the snorkel kit still does it
