How longs since your last major tune up? (Plugs, plug wires, air filter, ect)

And does your model have overdrive? If so are you sure that it is working? I had a 2000 dodge that the gas mileage dropped drastically and one of the things I found was that my truck was not always going into overdrive like it was suppose to.

the overdrive on that truck is electrically controlled. check the fuses for the o/d. and a "chip" is for power, not fuel economy.

you said it's 4wd. is it lifted? do you have oversize tires? if so, that will definitely affect your fuel economy. the only way to fix that would be to change the gears in the differentials.

if you drive efficiently, a cold air intake will give you the same potential for power and fuel economy as the programmer. to get any real gains from the programmer, you will have to set it for premium fuel, which will cost you at least 30 cents more a gallon. any increased economy with the programmer will be cancelled out by the increased fuel costs.
