I am getting an average of 10 mpg even on hwy maybe 2 more I filled tires to 40psi added a K&N filter herd about computer chips would like to know any answers I would be happy with any answers or opinions you might have I baby it to grt the most mileage thanks
How longs since your last major tune up? (Plugs, plug wires, air filter, ect)
And does your model have overdrive? If so are you sure that it is working? I had a 2000 dodge that the gas mileage dropped drastically and one of the things I found was that my truck was not always going into overdrive like it was suppose to.
That's where I was going too, dandy. Sounds like the transmission isn't shifting correctly so the engine is revving higher than it should and killing the gas mileage. HTH. -Jim
the overdrive on that truck is electrically controlled. check the fuses for the o/d. and a "chip" is for power, not fuel economy.
you said it's 4wd. is it lifted? do you have oversize tires? if so, that will definitely affect your fuel economy. the only way to fix that would be to change the gears in the differentials.
to answer ther answers I did give it a smei tune up spark plugs and wires I rotated tires I was told by a ram owner yesterday and he said might be a upper bearing lifted right wheel has some play. I would like to know were to find the performance chip I would rathet have economy I dont used the truck that would need really heavy work I thought I was getting a good deal I will change spark plug and rotor do you think I should put in a cold air intake sys? thanks for allthe responses and how quickly I dont know were to answer you hopefully thanks again Jorge
Oh the transmission seems to be shifing fine when I hit the overdrive button it downshifts
if you drive efficiently, a cold air intake will give you the same potential for power and fuel economy as the programmer. to get any real gains from the programmer, you will have to set it for premium fuel, which will cost you at least 30 cents more a gallon. any increased economy with the programmer will be cancelled out by the increased fuel costs.
What size engine?
