Transmission help!

Asked by Mar 08, 2015 at 09:17 AM about the 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 2 Dr ST 4WD Extended Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 1996 Dodge Ram
1500. I had to have a new motor put in
and now I'm having problems with the
transmission shifting into gear properly.
It doesn't happen all the time so any
suggestions.I've heard it could be as
simple as a vaccuum line since the
tranny is a new Jasper less than a month
old.

Check the throttle valve cable that comes from the transmission and clips to the throttle body lever, it might have never been attached.

Hopefully you didn't drive the truck far damaging your new rebuilt trans.
