what would cause a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup 5.9 liter to missfire
we have changed all the spark plug's, wires, coil, O2 sensor, and we had dropped the tank and checked the pump, new water pump, still missfiring , one machine read's no.8 and another reads all cylinder's, one person suggested a sticky lifter, need to have ideas,
Need to find out which cylinder first, ... have someone put emergency brake on, put in gear, slowly push on gas a little...when it starts missing hold it right there , take a test light . with alligator clip on negative and poke the distributor wires at the cap one at a time, hold ONLY the handle of the test light, when you poke a good hitting cylinder the sound of the engine will drop down , when you hit a cylinder that is not working it will make NO sound change...then you can find out which cylinder is not hitting, a compression check is next on that cylinder before anything else, report back.....
