99 46re in a 95 dodge ram
Not without some modifications to the computer control systems. The 95 is Chrysler OBD1 and the 99 is Chrysler OBD2 completely different operating systems, the 99 won't know how or when to shift.
AND NO...YOU HAVE TO USE THE 46RE CONVERTER OR A NEW ONE
ALSO...THEY MAKE KITS FOR THE CONVERSION TRY SUMMIT RACING
So just buying a new torque converter wont help
Nope, there are a lot more electronics involved from just an OBD1 system to an OBD 2.
Ok then what kind of kit do i need to look for or would it just be easier or cheaper to rebuild my 46rh
Check with your local transmission shop for a stand alone shift module kit for the tranny you are wanting to use. Then after it is all installed you will have to program the module for the way you want it to shift, this will take time and effort to get the way you want it. Rebuilding will be the quickest and easiest if your not into reprogramming.
Thanks guys i guess im just going to rebuild my old one. One last question how hard do you think it would be to make my 95 ram 4x4 i hqve both of the axles and everything i just dont know about the front actuator
If I remember right that actuator is electric so you could just put in a switch on or under the dash to engage the front axle, or if your really good rig up a device that turns it on when you pull the lever into 4X4. This is an involved job, I worked with a guy that converted his 2WD into a 4X4 and it took him every weekend for about 2 months to get it all set up the way he liked it, he later said never again, it was just too much redesigning.
I have the complete wiring harness from the 4x4 parts truck
Then that makes it a lot easier as far as the wiring goes.
