Chevy s10 cranks but won't start

So was driving am my truck overheats to
250 then drops to below 200 then knocks
then dies I kno I needed a new thermostat
and procrastinated on changing it and the
dam thing leaks nothing but I have to put
water in it a lot as well sounds like iam
screwed
