2003 Chevy s10 4x4 dash light says truck is in 4 WD, however, have, no power to front wheels. Shifts into 4 lo and 4 hi hear noise, front wheels no power. Have changed the transfer case switch on top and, the vacuum activation switch under battery. Help please.
Hello and thanks, yes under battery tray, installed new one and vacuum pulls it out about 1 inch however, no front wheel lock, albeit, 4 hi switch light says it is locked!
there's nothing to handle the "big" torque on the xfer case...that's the dandy I had in mind....have seen trouble stemming from road debris on 4wd systems a couple o times~
Judge.roy , thanks! I have not seen the part you show on this truck
I replaced the the transfer case vacuum switch, where 3 rubber hoses connect. Thanks
that goodie that I got 20 points DOES NOT fit this vehicle...wish I could give it back....have to research further...an exploded view would help...searchin....~
okay I think we got it...there's a motor on your xfer case...could test it for continuity or a connector that's not behaving itself~

okay if that little black motor stopped turnin' there you can see the actuator would not actuate~
The transfer case encoder motor, if this motor was bad , the transfer case would not shift into 4 lo or 4 hi would it? I hear it shifting..thanks
hmmmm....puzzled....check for loose bolts?~
But got your points huh judge... might wanna try another forum bob with better advise that don't use points so you will get legit advise and not someone trying to keep ahead in points with useless answers... hope this helps lol
big Jim T....how can your entry here possibly help? heard of this problem? willin' to dive in and find out a few things about the construction of this 4x4? well then, I digress....learn or perish~
just had a same problem with my 01 S10. Was simply the vacuum hose on the drivers side fender. Connected it and it went right in.
