2003 Chevy s10 4x4 dash light says truck is in 4 WD, however, have, no power to front wheels. Shifts into 4 lo and 4 hi hear noise, front wheels no power. Have changed the transfer case switch on top and, the vacuum activation switch under battery. Help please.

Hello and thanks, yes under battery tray, installed new one and vacuum pulls it out about 1 inch however, no front wheel lock, albeit, 4 hi switch light says it is locked!

there's nothing to handle the "big" torque on the xfer case...that's the dandy I had in mind....have seen trouble stemming from road debris on 4wd systems a couple o times~

I replaced the the transfer case vacuum switch, where 3 rubber hoses connect. Thanks

that goodie that I got 20 points DOES NOT fit this vehicle...wish I could give it back....have to research further...an exploded view would help...searchin....~

okay I think we got it...there's a motor on your xfer case...could test it for continuity or a connector that's not behaving itself~

okay if that little black motor stopped turnin' there you can see the actuator would not actuate~

The transfer case encoder motor, if this motor was bad , the transfer case would not shift into 4 lo or 4 hi would it? I hear it shifting..thanks

just had a same problem with my 01 S10. Was simply the vacuum hose on the drivers side fender. Connected it and it went right in.
