Fuel filter replacement

Asked by David Dec 19, 2013 at 04:02 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet S-10 LS Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 s10 won't start.  I here the fuel pump start and just put 5 gal gas in it earlier. Sounds
like it wanted to fire up as if it was not gettin gas.

I added a bottle of Heat to the gas but won;t fire. The temps have been from bellow 0 to 30
here and snowy.

Have you checked the fuel rail bar pressure valve to see if it is getting fuel to the injectors? It should have a cap on it like a tire valve stem does take that cap off and press it and see if there is fuel to it if there is pressure spraying when pressed the problem is the fuel rail bar needs cleaned, dirty or clogged injectors, hope this helps

Not ever been in that kind of temps I hope this helps. 1) when was the filter last changed. It could have frozen water trapped in filter. If its garage keep try a heat lap under truck . Try a little starting fluid in the air filter snorkel. Hope that helps some being in Texas we never see temps like that. If there isn't a block heater the oil will be real thick like honey .
