Timing chain

I have a 2001 cavalier z24. 2.4 liter
quad 4. Fast as hell. Broke the timing
chain. How do I fix? How time
consuming? Hard to do?

Yes, it is a difficult job- if you are handy, you can do it- but I would just take it to a good mechanic- there might be more broken in there than just the chain- and if you get it running again, stop thrashing the old lady-

Well, depends on how handy you are. You need to support the motor and remove the upper engine mount to gain access. I did mine in about 3 hours on a -10 degree day...outside. Now the issue is you said you broke the chain! That is an issue on these cars considering they have zero clearance between the positions and the head. Hope you didn't bend a valve! If you did it willbe cheaper to replace the motor or walk away and call the junk yard.
