When I get a new fuel tank, does it also need a fuel pump in the tank?

I have an S-10 and the fuel tank is leaking by the strap.  If I get a fuel tank, do I also need a fuel pump or is it in the tank or not.  Heard both ways.  Anyway to repair the leak for a couple days till we can get to it?

The pump is in the tank,if it is good just remove from old tank and place in new one.

Personally I'd replace the fuel pump anyhow. Just so I won't have to worry about it later on. Why tear it apart again? Especially if it may be original. HTH. -Jim
