my 1994 chevy s10 pickup failed emisions

I just bought it replaced the head runs ok took it down for the inspection it failed 3 days ago the service engine light came on now it has trouble starting it will just turn over unless I apply the gas peddle I have had it running for about a month now and it started wirthout a prob until recently can some one help me
