I got a 94 2.2l 4 banger in my s10. Is a 95 motor compatible and if so is it direct swap ob1 or ob2? looking into a replacement due to blown headgasket and 180k on it.
Im looking into buying a replacement motor for my truck but if i can find a used one in a truck then ill do that. I want to know if i can use a 95 as well as the 94 motors for more options or if that makes it harder than to just stick to a 94 and thats why theyre so expensive to replace?... Any help would be awesome. Once again its a 2.2l s10 1994. Standard with no ac. Heating problem could be heater core clogged or head gasket either way im doing new motor. 180k on motor now.
94-99 are all cross compatable, with all available engines being simple bolt in swaps. you could put as late as a 99 vortec into it.
as far as the heater core goes, check your fan motor. if both ac and heat went out at the same time that is your most likely culprit.
there is no ac in the truck at all, its a basic core motor and the 99 wont bolt to the obd1 side of the truck. 94-95 are obd1 if you get it early enough then they turn to obd2. Also the trannys are different between certain years. The gauges and computeres wouldnt read right if i just bolted in a 99 2.2l.
I have a 94 with A/C bought a 98-99 engine and the head is completely different. Possible but a PITA to complete. We are talking a weak 2.2 here.
