Need help not getting a spark at the coil pack or distributer cap

Asked by Feb 09, 2017 at 04:21 AM about the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Chevy Blazer won't start. When I got in to
start it wouldn't start.   Towed it home changed the
few pump, alternator, coil pack, ignition module.
Then found out still not getting no spark.  Thinking
about trying the crank shaft censor? What should I
everything is brand new.

Most common is the crank sensor, you should have started there first.

Okay I'll try that in the morning. Thanks.

Change the crank sensor still no start

Disconnect the PCM fuses and there is more than one, wait a few minutes and then put the fuses back in and see if it will start. If it won't then you may not be getting a trigger signal from the ECM. D you have a live data scanner, if so plug in and see what the computer is doing with injector pulse width and spout or timing degrees.

Hooked up the scanner but the person I bought it from cleared them or something because nothing is showing up. But I will try the fuses here in couple mins lyk

You may just need to get the system live data scanned, so the tech can see if the ECM is dead or if there are some broken circuits in the engine management system.

Ok I'll pry just take it to the shop tomorrow hopefully they get it pry cost

If the ECM is dead would that cause no spark? And how would I change the ECM? Would it cause my security system to mess up? Do I need to replace anything else after I replace the ECM?

Yes a dead ECM will cause a no spark condition, but so will other componets, cam or crank sensor, blown ignition fuse, stuff like that, there should not be anything else to change if you replace the just the ECM and everything else in the system is operating, the alarm is controlled by the BCM, now if your having problems in that area it's a whole different story. Did the scan show anything?

Did you ever find out what it was ? You have to stop throwing parts at it . Get someone that has a scan tool over there and scan it . Throwing parts at it is the worst thing to do . .....First .....Keep it simple ! Then move on to harder and more expensive parts .

Hope you found the problem. How many miles are on it ?
