Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ill be driving over 80kmh and my service engine
light comes on, then after about 45 minutes it
turns off. When the light is on i feel the engine
lag almost like a very short sputter. Could this be
bcs of my exhaust leak causing compression
problems or another issue?

It very well may be. Scan for the codes and let us know what you come up with. Any local auto parts store will do it for free.

Tom, i got the obd reading and its my oxygen sensor bcs i have a exhaust leak @ high speeds my sensor senses a problom and trys to adjust the mix causing the fluctuations in my engine.... This came straight fromm the tech.

The sputtering and driveablity issues will be caused by your leak. As far as the engine shutting down, I would say this is a seperate issue. What I would do is fix the exhaust leak first and get the car running properly, then you can tackle the engine shutting off issue if it still persists. There might be a new engine code as well.

If you go to an Autozone they will check your check engine codes for free. You can then look up the code online to hep diagnose.

This was happening to my S-10. Problem was a weak/bad spark plug. Engine codes should tell you that for sure!
