2006 taurus transmission just quit on way home, will not go

was on way home and transmission just stopped running.  no gear clashing.
no obvious cause.  what happened?

Hard to say really as these have so many things that make them just up and quit. Is the check engine light on while the engine is running?

mine did same thing 2001 ford taurus transmission shop said pin backed out of the band

mine did the same thing today,was wandering if you figured out what caused that? ROSEARY1234

Mine did that this past wednesday. Check engine light has been on since i bought the car
