Negotiating with insurance co. on a totaled car

Asked by Jul 15, 2016 at 06:06 PM about the 2006 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

We were rear ended on memorial weekend
and State Farm has changed their mind 5
times as to wether or not they were totaling
our car. Now they don't want to give us
enough to replace it. It only had 60,000
miles on it!

I am insured with State Farm and a few years ago my wife was in an accident that totaled her car. We were offered Kelley Blue Book retail price plus sales tax for our car. It was a very fair settlement. Your 2006 Taurus likely will not be worth much even with only 60,000 miles. It is a 10 year old car.

Your Taurus SE is unfortunately the bottom of the line on those cars. It is 10 years old. Low mileage is nice but even with that factored in the car is only worth between $3000 & $5000 retail. Go on and you'll be able to more accurately enter your vehicle information to get a more accurate value. HTH. -Jim
