Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had an issue with check gauges light and oil pressure dropping to 0 only when slowing down.  Had a new oil pump and sensor replaced a month ago and same thing is happening again??? Any ideas??

Could be an early warning sign of worn bearings. This is especially suspect if you have high mileage. HTH. -Jim

In the engine. Most likely worn crankshaft bearings. If you have high mileage I'd suspect that. Worn bearings aren't always noisy (knock) in the beginning. Sometimes an oil pressure problem, as you've described, comes first. Then the knocking. How is it when the engine is cold? If ok when cold that's another sign of worn bearings. Try a heavier weight oil, such as 10W- 40, as a "Band-Aid". If it improves that's what it'll be. The only other thing that I can suggest is a worn or stuck relief valve at the oil filter assembly. If stuck closed your oil pressure will drop off at idle as well. HTH. -Jim
