Security light

Asked by Jun 23, 2016 at 02:56 PM about the 2005 Ford F-150 FX4 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 05 f150 that was running good. I had a flat
tire and took it to the tire shop. When I got there to
pick it up the security light was blinking and it will
turn over but won't start. I have took to Ford store
to get a new key programmed but that didn't work.
Before I spend any money I was wondering if
someone may know what my problem is. Thanks

Odd, the same thing happened to my rig at a tire shop I was able to run the disarm procedure and cleared it up. Did you try that on yours?

Can i run it? Or does Ford have to do it? And if I can do it what is the procedure to do what you are talking about

If it starts and runs then yes you can, but usually it shuts off the ignition so it won't run but a brief moment. The procedure on mine was: manually lock the passenger doors, then key in hand close and lock the drivers door with the key wait at least 30 seconds then using the key unlock the drivers door, that turned off mine. There are a few out there that use the passenger door as the deactivate door, so if the drivers don't work use the passenger. HTH

Someone probably locked it with the FOB and then unlocked it with the key. Sometimes these Fords don't like this and the anti-theft activates.
