I want to put a 2" leveling kit on my 2002 f150 I now have 285 70 17 tires, I want to go with a wider tire size and taller if needed would like info on tire sizes with out needing spacers.
See Discount Tires online. They are very good with plus sizes.
I have the same size tire on my 2002 F150 4x4 and I doubt you can go much, if any bigger without spacers or a lift kit. A good tire shop might install larger tires and check for clearance issues without charging too much.
The option is drop down to a 60 series tire then you can go widder. Research 60 series tires & see the overall higths & compare. Big sidewalls like with 70's + + cause interference & rubbing, & tie rod interference (when turning). Look at Mickey Thomson's. If you must have 70's yes than spacers, springs, aftermarket A arms, or coil over shocks are needed. Then there is always air ride / air bag suspension but $$$.
My 350/350 hp, 4"-6" lowered sb Chevy street truck. Nitto 255XR17X50 front Nitto 275XR17X50 rear. By using 50's I could go much wider & lower.
No Discount Tires have tire formulas in their data base, & installed thousands & thousands of tires nationwide, just like yours. Look at them online first, just enter the tire size & or brand you want. Still you're right, spacers & lift kit would help.
