Asked by Apr 11, 2015 at 03:41 PM about the 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat Crew Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I went to start my truck it tried to start but it started to click and it did not start. It had corrosive flim on the battery post and I cleaned it off it started but after I drove a day or two it did it again and it is doing it again my alarm is going off and lights are flickering but the alarm on is not loud and the lights are dim when I got a boost it started and I drove it home I turned it off and it started up but hours later it did the same thing will not start up the lights are dim and the alarm is going off quietly lights flickering. I removed the cable while the truck was started and stayed running so it is not the alternator.

Your battery is bad, your alternator may be bad, or both. Do you know how to check your alternator with a multi-meter once the vehicle is jumped started? If not check the net, it is quite easy. If the alternator checks good bring the battery to a place like auto zone and they will check it for you.
