won't stay running
my daughter has a 2000 ford f150 4x4 with 4.2 v6. it will not stay running. but if
i take the air intake off at the throttle body it runs fine
I believe there is a sensor in line with the air flow. Before you replace it there is a spray cleaner to use that may save you a lot of money instead of a replacement part. ask at auto zone what the name of the part is because they sold me the cleaner when I went to buy the part.
i can also undo it from the air filter and put it back on at the throttle body and it runs fine
Does it run if you remove the air filter ? If so replace air filter.
Check for mouse nest or other obstruction in the air filter housing or cold air snout.
Replace the air cleaner and clean the MAF very CAREFULLY. View a video on the net first. If you damage it, and it is easy to do so, they are expensive. When checking, learn how to clean the throttle body. NO NOT use carb cleaner. You can also change the idle air control valve attached to the throttle body. They are not expensive.
Great answer, Bob, but he probably thinks you're joking. We find acorns under our hood where the squirrels are hoarding them.
