What repairs cause the check engine light to come on? Also what repairs can be diagnosed with digital scanners?

Scan the truck for the code or codes.

Repairs that causes light to come on would be any sensor that was teplaced with the wrong part, parts not properly adjusted or installed, wires or plugs left loose or disconnected. Repairs diagnosed with scanner really depends on scanner being used but if u use agood quality scanner u can do live data meaning ucan actually see the signal being generated by sensors

Scanners usually do not tell the operator what part is bad. They show a trouble code for what the problem area might be and if a certain circuit is in our out of spec. It is up to the mechanic to determine which part is defective and in need of replacement. We have not gone far enough in technology for the vehicles to determine exactly what is wrong with them.
