99 F150 wont crank after removing door panel

Asked by Feb 19, 2016 at 08:04 PM about the 1999 Ford F-150 XLT 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the driver and passenger side mirrors on my 99 f150 today, now
I get a clicking sound and the interior lights click on and off when I open the
doors (doesn't matter if it is driver or passenger open) and the key has not
been put into the ignition yet. I tried starting the truck and all it does is click
fast, all gauges red line and then the lights start doing the clicking on and
off again. I had no issues until I l replaced my side mirrors. Please help, my
drivers side window is down and I don't want to leave it that way all night.

There is nothing in the door panel to cause this OTHER than because of the doors being open, the battery got run down. Just charge up the battery.

That's what it sounds like to me too, low battery. Make sure the connections are nice and clean also.

Thank you! I will give that a shot tomorrow morning.

Winter months, especially in cold climates, cause a lot of battery deaths. The battery can have 12volts but lacks cold cranking amps. The amperage is what starts the engine. If the vehicle can be jump started, it's probably the battery.
