Timing on a 2002 Blazer

Asked by Aug 23, 2013 at 02:55 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Blazer 4 Door LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Blazer 4.3 and it feels like the timing is off. Some times at a stop it will be running fine then act as though it is missing and even die some of the time. As I accelerate hard it will ping. Other times under a load I loose power for a little while then it comes back. Ideas????

When was the last time you checked your spark plugs and coils?

Fuel filter, fuel pump pressure and supply. In other words a really good tune up.

I changed the fuel filter with no change. I was going to change the plugs tomorrow. I only have one coil and just changed the cap and rotor. Any other ideas??????

Check the base timing with a timing light. Adjust to the specs on the emissions decal under the hood. If the decal states "no adjustments required" check the knock sensor for proper operation. But do the tune-up first. Plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. HTH. -Jim
