i have the E4od transmission but its acting up, will another one directly swap over with very minimal custom work??

transmission is acting up after i just did a flush on it. i may have added a little bit more than it calls for but is still giving me problems shifting and the od light blinking. looking for a solution. the truck is a 1996 f150 standard cab 4.9 inline six 2 wheel drive long bed

Drain some to get it to the proper level. You can get a suction tube,aka a long turkey baster to remove the extra fluid through the dipstick tube. They sell them at any auto parts store. Since the light is blinking, there are codes stored and can be read by a mechanic. You might have a temp sensor issue, wiring issue or internal failure at the worst. Meaning a rebuild. Good Luck.
