Hello my name is Rodney and I own a 1995 Ford F150 XLT and I think my tranny went
out. When I start her up and either throw her into reverse or in drive she will not move.
When I step on the gas the engine revs up. Was told by the previous owner that her
catalytic converter was clogged..suggested I take a hack saw and cut her converter and
she she'll run like a champ. I don't know.. This is my FIRST truck and I want to get an
experts opinion before I end up messing her up before I can even drive her. Also while
she's running she sounds like her timing could be off. In all its a damn good truck for my
first one..seems like all easy fixes without having to spend a whole lot of money on shop
fees. Again PLEASE HELP!! I'm sure someone has to owns this particular yr model truck
and experienced this very problem with theirs. Who knows it may just be something so
simple. She's also been sitting for a yr that may be the reason why she runs like she does
because I think it might be old gas in her tank. Also the granny's dipstick holder is loose.
Check the level of the transmission fluid via the dip stick. If it's low add. If not low you will need a tranny repair.
If it was the catalytic converter the engine would not rev up. The problem is ur transmission converter does not have pressure
