How can i tell if it my fuel pump or fuel filter?
If it's only a starting problem, too much cranking time, but runs well and has plenty of power after it finally does start it's not either the filter or pump. How long since a plain old fashion tune-up..spark plugs, wires, ignition timing, etc?
Just got the truck soo not entirely sure when it was done last. Ill start with that and go from there Thank you very much
Especially if spark plug wires look old, look at air filter, if dirty those are signs of neglect
Got a multimeter? Get the specs off the net for the plug wires. Check resistance, if off replace. Visually check wires. If they show signs of cracks along the length they are arcing.
This is the thing it takes in between 2-5 tries to get it started some nothing happends others its trying to turn over. I can't figure out whats goin on
What does "trying to turn over" mean? If the starter is working and the engine is spinning, then it is turning over. If sometimes the starter is not engaging it is not turning over. If the starter sometimes does not spin the engine, suspect the starter.
I turn the key all the way over and its like it goes to the key goes back to off mode. No sounds or anything
If you turn the key to the start position and nothing happens, suspect a battery. If the battery test good then check the terminals for corrosion. Follow the negative side of the battery cable to it's connection location and make sure there is a good connection. If all is good jump the solenoid on the fender well. JUST FOR A SECOND. If the starter spins after each attempt the solenoid may be bad.
