Ok my 94 f150 the transmission shifts great and pulls excellent but as I'm going down the road it feels like it shifts in to neutral like it just falls out of gear does anyone no what my problem is
Can you verify that it actually is dropping out of gear, like the engine will rev up when it happens, or are you feeling the converter lock up engaging and the engine rpm's drop, sometimes it will fell like another shift point into a really high gear.
possible low fluid, you checked that im sure, pressure control valve in trans.not holding pressure up,a flush may be in order or,fresh filter and fluid may be needed, low trans front pump worn, not a healthy sign ,raise idle a little if possible, sounds like a 160 k miler and just tired, heaver weight tractor trans fluid at last resort .keep on trucking!
No it drops out of gear and the engine will rev up and then it will some times jump back in gear but most of the time I will have to turn over drive off or drop it into a lower gear for it to grab again
Like Jimmy stated, sounds like the pressures are bad inside the trans, Definitely try a service with a filter change and add some TransX it might help for a while but it isn't long before it quits working.
I have a 1993 f-150 that is doing the same thing. I can be sailing down the hwy at 70 and its like someone puts it in nuetral. Engine revs up and then it will kick back in gear. It has hard shift between 1st and 2nd once in awhile. I can drive it for two days and it might not ever do it. The lady i bought it from said it has done it for years. I have had it a year now and it just keeps on going. Any ideas?
