Rear motor fails half way

Asked by Jun 16, 2017 at 05:51 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Venture LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The rear wiper turns on and it moves but half way through, it shudders and
doesn't move any more.. It just keeps shuddering against the window. If I turn it
off, it continues until I manually finish the cycle. A mechanic said its the motor,
but I suspect it could be the assembly.

The motor and gear box are one unit, so it is sold as an assembly. I believe that your Tech is right on with his diagnosis.

Ah.. ok then.. great to know.. so is that the issue? something in the assembly area is worn out? gears rusted, etc?

It really sounds like the motor is on it's last legs, most likely internal brushes are worn.
