Will an automatic transmission out of a 1993 ford explore fit into a 1992 f150 with an automatic transmission

Asked by Nov 05, 2013 at 04:40 AM about the 1992 Ford F-150 S Extended Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The 9th Generation F 150 (1992 to 1996) came with the Ford C6, but the 1st generation Explorer (1992 to 1994) has a different automatic transmission, the 4 speed A4. I can't find anywhere that tells me if the bell housing bolt pattern is the same. Or not. But looking at applications for both, it looks like not.
