I have a Ford F 150 that has a serious miss I've replaced distributor cap plugs wires coil and it still misses it misses so hard that the truck tak jumps at least a thousan does anybody have any ideas
It could be that the timing chain jump a tooth or so or is slipping causing the back firing..
Yeah doesn't backfire the whole truck jumps surges forward and you can see the tach jump least a thousands kind of strange
Run a compression test. If you know which cylinder is missing you'll only need to test that one. If it tests very low or zero it's a burned valve. If you don't know which cylinder is missing, run a complete compression test on all cylinders. If 1 tests very low or zero that's the one that's missing. Same deal. Burned valve on that cylinder. If all cylinders test good (around 150 PSI or higher) it's going to be a fuel problem. Such as a bad fuel injector since the ignition parts are new. One last thing to look at on the missing cylinder, is the spark plug tip wet with gasoline? If so, the cylinder is getting fuel. HTH. -Jim
Thanks I'll try it
