how do you fix slopy 5 speed manual shifter

It feels like a bus shifting this truck you can move the shifter 6 inches side to side and maybe you find 3rd or maybe not!

Hey BigOldRed. This is one that a pro has to lay hands on although without feeling it, I'm hopeful it's a simple repair. Take a fresh cup of coffee to your local Ford Dealer's Service Manager early some morning and see if he'll spill his guts. He'll probably enjoy seeing the old girl. Good luck!

I have the same issue with my 90 lariat. Mine is the bolt that holds the shift lever to the transmission, it fits like a wedge in there. If you have the wrong bolt, or the original is warn you get that side to side swing.
