Why, after i drive my van for several hours it's hard to start like the battery is low.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put in a brand new battery. It starts up fine when cold. After I drive it on a long trip it drags like it doesn't want to start. When i let it cool for several hours it starts right up fine.

It must sound like your alternator, is going out you need to get that fix soon.

Actually, the problem may be your starter. A starter can be affected by the heat buildup inside from the hot engine. I'd recommend having the starter checked out and replaced if it's bad.
