03 trailblazer leaking from back of engine

Asked by Jan 28, 2017 at 05:02 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck was overheating, wife kept using
water to put in. Thermostat housing was
cracked and was replaced. I got under the
hood today and found that it was leaking
from the back of the motor. Right where the
head is. Can't see back there but seems like
a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Any
suggestions?

These are also know for intake gaskets leaks right where they attach to the cylinder heads, so you may have to clean it of really well and then pressurize the cooling system and watch closely where it i actually coming from, hopefully it is the intake and not the headgasket as that starts getting expensive.
