Coolant Leak top of engine on my 2005 Ford Sport Trac with the 4.0 V6. I checked the hoses and the thermostat, but it seems the leak is about 3 or 4 inches away from the thermostat.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It just started out of nowhere, but it
seems to be pretty bad, because the
coolant tank was bone dry.

When you say 3 or 4 inches away from thermostat...which way? Toward intake manifold? Does it look anything at all like this, get a visual if you can with housing on ..it will get a little bigger I scaled it up as far as I could and keep focus

It is going toward the firewall. I just gave up and took it to the shop and they are saying it is the thermostat housing.
